Mko and Mazi”. “Mko” means a traditional tiny wooden spoon used by the Pare people for eating and “Mazi” means water. This implies that water in the Park is hardly enough to fill up the wooden spoon. Mkomazi National Park lies along the edge of a semi-arid savanna arc that stretches into Kenya’s Tsavo West, falling into the Mkomazi-Tsavo Ecosystem, which is the second largest trans-boundry ecosystem in East Africa after the famous Serengeti – Maasai Mara.
A transfer from the airport can be arranged at an additional expense. Pick up from your accommodation in the morning and drive to Mkomazi National Park. Mkomazi Tanzania Park is located 6 kilometers from the same town and was designated a National Park in 2008. It was a Game Reserve since 1951 and had an area of 3,245 square kilometers. Giraffe, oryx, gerenuk, hartebeest, lesser kudu, eland, impala, and grants gazelle may all be found in the park, along with elephants, buffalo, and a variety of predators such as lions, leopards, and cheetah. Mkomazi National Park is located on the edge of a semi-arid savanna arc that extends into Kenya's Tsavo West, forming part of the Mkomazi-Tsavo Ecosystem, East Africa's second largest transboundary ecosystem after the famous Serengeti-Maasai Mara. The Umba River on Mkomazi's south-east boundary, as well as various water holes, are the park's primary sources of water. Later in the evening, you will drive back to the lodge for drop-off.
